Gardening has been a passion of mine for decades. I started growing a wide array of produce at our home in Mesa, AZ, during the COVID-19 lockdown when I suddenly found myself on a mission to provide better food for my daughter and me. After a few months of consistently eating our homegrown produce in place of store-bought, my daughter and I quickly realized how much better the food tasted and how much better we felt.
The mission quickly moved beyond providing produce for ourselves to providing high quality, homegrown, pesticide-free food for as many people as possible in our local community--especially for the next generation. Since most of us were brought up on mass produced food from large scale farms, we feel it is important to do our part and offer a better alternative by creating a healthier, tastier food source on a community level.
We are a small scale family garden. Almost all of our soil comes from the compost we make. We water the plants with as much rain water as we can catch (when it decides to rain here in the desert!)
I have been gardening professionally and personally for over 20 years. My passion is providing fresh, pesticide-free food for my family, friends, and as many other people I can reach. I build all my garden beds myself, make my own compost/soil, make my own pH balanced nutrients for the plants, and personally tend to all of the crops every single day.
I am Steve's daughter and I am the main beneficiary of the fresh food my dad has been providing us for years. I assist in the garden wherever help is needed, and I manage sales and business operations at the Garden of Stephen. As a full time pilot, having good, homegrown food to bring on the road for nutritious snacks is invaluable.
Something's always in season at the Garden of Stephen! Coming soon to local farmers markets in the Phoenix area. We are in the process of expanding the garden to be able to provide food to the community.
